Position Location: Various locations in upstate NY
Summary: Repairs vehicles and heavy trucks by performing the following duties. Crawls under or climbs in or on vehicles and trucks for maintenance and repair inspections. Repairs, removes, and replaces moving parts and other components of vehicles and trucks. Disassembles, repairs, removes, and replaces parts of engines, transmissions, drive assemblies, brakes, and clutches of vehicles and trucks. Tunes, adjusts, and regulates equipment engines, valves, pumps, carburetors and other mechanical components with variable setting. Lubricates and services vehicles and trucks and maintains accurate record of such service. Requests repair parts and lubrication supplies as needed. Assist in training less experienced employees on the proper servicing and repair of trucks to further their abilities. Perform general labor duties when necessary. May be assigned miscellaneous tasks outside your craft to assist others as required.
Special Requirements: MUST PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING. Must be willing to travel. Must be capable of strenuous physical exertion and lifting heavy items. Must be prepared to work in all weather conditions. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Must be able to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics. Must be able to use a computer and have basic computer skills. Overtime is required. 3+ years of experience in industrial, commercial or highway construction field. Must have valid driver's license, good driving record required. May require certification for certain types of truck repairs. Must have the appropriate tools of the trade. A valid Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) Class A or B is a plus. CDL Endorsements for Air Brake, Tanker and Hazardous Materials are a plus.
